I haven’t been blogging much in recent months. My cup runneth over such is the state of things.
It’s as though a strange realisation came over me upon turning the magic 60 three and a bit months ago. I reflected on lots of things, happenstances and circumstances and almost felt an enlightenment. If you can understand that.
I figured that I had enough blessings, health, wealth (comfort anyway – a cushion), intelligence ( to a degree), love and support, and finally, opportunity.
And so I now greet each new day with a renewed vigour. It’s weird. I’ve known me all my life but somehow I’m different in my outlook now…. and my productivity.
I have tackled Mrs. Monkey’s Jobs List with gusto though external jobs have been hampered by the rain somewhat. The lounge has been completely redecorated. We have visited Iceland and Marrakech – sat on our arses through Christmas ( as you do) – begun addressing all those nagging issues that hang around – and generally just got things done. Creatively, I completed my first attempt at editing a short movie – I have finished two paintings (okay, 1 and half) – got back on the Open Mic circuit – and presented Mrs.Monkey with a collection of my work covering the last 15 years or so.
Now, I am once again working on promoting and being the Box Office for the Kempsford Literary Weekend and am beginning the task of fund raising to build an orphanage in rural India (more on that later).
Phew – I think I need a lie down ……………….
That’s impressive. I cut down on blogging from time to time to get other things done, and end up doing neither 😀 I find the trouble is when I’ve got a set of totally different issues to deal with that all need doing at once. And then something else crops up. So well done on sustaining that burst of motivation.
Thank you. I’ve learned to be kind to myself and allow myself to be tired sometimes. I liken my energy levels to the battery bar on my laptop. I know I can recharge in about 3 hours. The “To Do” doesn’t seem to be shrinking though. 🙂
Whoa! Can’t wait to hit 60! 🙂
Great going Al…here’s me, cheering you on! All the very best in all your prolific, productive endeavours 🙂
By the way, I have a really frustrating time with videos, but I managed to watch almost half of your movie and it was so serene and so nicely blended together! Will you be doing more stuff like this?
Kudos for redecorating, and….orphanage in India?? Whoa.
Thanks, Mun. I’m keeping on keeping on.. 🙂
And thank you for the feedback on the video. I will be doing more video stuff. It’s quite time consuming so they will pop up from time to time. I don’t want to do “home movies” but do want to get better and make them interesting for people to watch. Maybe I’ll do the music too next time. 🙂
